How to choose between DTG and embroidery
- Choose DTG when the provider has qualified the garment, the artwork suits direct digital printing, and the intended location can be loaded on its platen.
- Choose embroidery when the artwork can be digitized clearly, the product can be hooped or framed at the intended location, and raised thread is part of the design decision.
- Ask for system-level evidence before comparing durability; method names alone do not establish wash life or garment-life performance.

Is embroidery more durable than DTG?
There is no supported method-wide ranking. Compare the exact thread, stitch construction, garment, ink, pretreatment, fixing process, care conditions, and named laundering or abrasion tests.
Can the same artwork be used unchanged for DTG and embroidery?
Not necessarily. DTG uses the provider's digital print workflow, while embroidery requires artwork to be digitized into stitch instructions that fit the machine, thread, size, stabilizer, and product.
Does an embroidery machine's needle count set the maximum design colors?
Not by itself. Melco documents capabilities for its EMT16X, but a provider can use different equipment, thread handling, and design rules. Confirm the actual production workflow.
